Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is a major public health issue and one that all too often has roots in childhood experience. In a school-based health setting, staff has the opportunity to address and potentially prevent future IPV among students.
The impacts of relationship violence are both mental and physical and can be lifelong. The Centers for Disease Control
(CDC) has developed a program called Dating Matters targeted at 11-14 year olds which provides tips, tools, and classroom interventions for school staff to help prevent IPV.
The CDC also has great podcasts and training materials promoting IPV prevention. Listen to the podcasts on your commute and consider reviewing the training modules for use with your colleagues!
