Now Accepting Abstracts for 2020 National Health Care Convention

The School-Based Health Alliance and the Colorado Association for School-Based Health Care seek experts to present at the 2020 National School-Based Health Care Convention in Denver, CO, on June 23-25.

As the premier national gathering for the school-based health care field, the National School-Based Health Care Convention is an opportunity to connect with hundreds of fellow health care professionals, education professionals, and advocates from across the nation. More than 2,500 school-based health centers (SBHCs) nationwide are delivering integrated, patient-centered care, screening for conditions like obesity and depression, and offering preventive services—all with a special focus on vulnerable children and adolescents. Convention attendees will explore the innovative ways SBHCs serve their rural, urban, and suburban schools and communities by promoting wellness and health equity.

We’re looking for innovative ideas in a variety of school-health topics:

  1. Primary Care Clinical Skills
  2. Mental Health Clinical Skills
  3. Accountability, Quality Improvement, and Research
  4. Population Health and Education Outcomes
  5. Business/Systems
  6. Oral Health
  7. Systematically Targeted Groups
  8. Advocacy and Policy
  9. Collaboration with Colleagues in the Education Sector and Local Communities
  10. Youth Training Program (for youth participants only)

Do you have a concept you want to share? An idea so bold that it will make the field better? Then we want you to submit an abstract! Share your experience, evidence-based practices, resources, and tools with your colleagues from the school-based health care field.

Visit our website to submit an abstract to present. The call for abstracts is only open until November 4, so don’t delay.

Annual Alliance Awards Nominations

Each year for nearly two decades, the School-Based Health Alliance has recognized luminaries in the school-based health care field with a Lifetime Achievement Award. During the national convention, we honor select individuals and institutions who have demonstrated a strong commitment to the mission of school-based health care. We celebrate leaders who embody the spirit of innovation, dedication, and collaboration, who go above and beyond to manifest the vision of quality school-based health care for all young people.

The Alliance’s Rising Star Award celebrates an individual early to mid-level in their school-based health care career who demonstrates emerging leadership in addressing pressing issues in school-based health care.

The Alliance’s School-Based Health Care Champion Award recognizes an individual–from the education, health care, public health or other related sectors–who is dedicated to bringing comprehensive health care services to students in schools and develops and leads powerful partnerships with the school-based health care field.

We are now accepting applications for each of these awards. If you know a school-based health care advocate who is making a real difference in the lives of children and adolescents, we encourage you to nominate them so they can be recognized for their outstanding efforts! The deadline for nominations is also November 4.
