Immunization Requirements Webinar on March 3, 2020
The Washington State Department of Health is hosting an Immunization Requirements 2020 webinar on March 3, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. The presentation will cover the:
- Immunization schedule.
- Immunization rules.
- Updates to school and child care immunization requirements going into effect August 1, 2020.
This learning activity is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, pharmacists, residents and fellows, and medical students. Attendees may receive CNE, CME or AAMA CEU credit for 1 hour of training. Pharmacists are approved for 1 credit hour of continuing education approved by the state Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission.

Immunization Rule Change Regarding Medically Verified Records
The Washington State Board of Health has made changes to a state law covering school and child care immunization. Starting August 1, 2020, the revised rule requires medically verified immunization records for school or child care entry.
Parents will need to turn in one of the following for each child attending school or child care:
- A completed Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) signed by a doctor or other authorized health care provider.
- A CIS printed from the Washington State Immunization Information System or other state immunization registry.
- A CIS filled out by a parent or guardian with medical or immunization records printed from a health care provider.
As a health care provider, you may experience higher-than-normal demand for immunization records and back-to-school appointments over the summer. To reduce your workload, the DOH recommends using reminder/recall messaging in the spring and reviewing what records will be accepted. You may also wish to promote MyIR to your patients. MyIR is a portal to the state IIS where people can view and print their family’s immunization records without needing an appointment.
